Pet Surgical Services

Our doctors can perform most general surgical procedures that include external and internal tumor removal, aural hematoma repair, biopsies, foreign body removal, cystotomy to remove bladder stones, caesareans, wound repair, cherry eye repair, corneal ulcer treatment, etc. Most surgical patients will receive an IV catheter and IV fluid therapy during their procedures depending on the medical plan outlined by the veterinarian.
Pre-Surgical Preparations:

  • Your pet must be up to date on all vaccinations (including bordetella for dogs).
  • Do not feed your pet after 8:00 p.m. the night before the procedure. They may have water left down overnight unless otherwise instructed.
  • If you have any questions prior to the procedure, please do not hesitate to contact the clinic and speak to one of the technicians or assistants.
  • Check-in times for the day of the procedure are between 7:30 a.m. and 7:50 a.m. Please allow approximately 15 minutes to review paperwork with a technician or assistant.

Spaying

There are many benefits to spaying your pet. Along with preventing female animals from becoming pregnant and reproducing, this procedure helps them live longer, healthier lives and does not change their personality. It also helps control the pet overpopulation problem, which keeps animals out of shelters.

Spayed animals are more protected against deadly diseases, bacterial infections, reproductive tract diseases and different forms of cancer. They also will not go into heat, which helps prevent pacing and crying in female cats.

When an animal is spayed, their ovaries and uterus are removed. They do need to be under anesthesia, and we follow very strict protocols and monitor your pet’s vital signs to ensure a safe procedure.

Neutering

There are many benefits to neutering your pet. This procedure helps your pet live a longer, healthier life, and does not change their personality. It also helps control the pet overpopulation problem, which keeps animals out of shelters.

Neutered animals have a reduced or eliminated risk of testicular or prostate cancer and sexually transmitted diseases. They will also less often display behaviors such as roaming, fighting, spraying and humping.

When an animal is neutered, their testicles are removed. They do need to be under anesthesia, and we follow very strict protocols and monitor your pet’s vital signs to ensure a safe procedure.

Orthopedic diseases include those that impact your pet's bones, joints, muscles, tendons, ligaments, and the skeletal system and limbs. The mood and quality of life of your pet might be impacted by orthopedic injuries.
